Leadership coaching

I am a qualified leadership coach and can provide regular sessions for school leaders in any setting.

Coaching is a powerful vehicle for change. Being a school leader can be a lonely and challenging place and having someone to support and challenge our thinking directly impacts on our ability to lead any organisation, in an emotionally healthy way.

I can offer this service in person, online, or as part of a walk and talk on the Mendip Hills and Exmoor.

I enjoy and relish training education staff. I can offer a range of courses which can be tailored to what schools need. For example:

An understanding of the impact of childhood trauma and how schools can be more trauma aware.
Understanding and working with children and young people who present behaviours that challenge.
De-escalation strategies and managing crisis.

I am also a freelance trainer with Trauma Informed Schools UK Paul Dix Team at When the Adults Change.

I am also currently delivering a DFE funded 3 day course focussing on understanding and managing behaviour.

Reflective Supervision

I am an Association of Psychological Therapies licensed, level 2 qualified, clinical supervisor and I can offer staff working with vulnerable pupils or school leaders regular supervision sessions.

Reflective supervision is an essential part of provision for staff well being and has been shown to reduce staff absence and burn out. It is an opportunity to problem solve and offload complex issues in a safe and supportive space.

Staff who have regular monthly supervision are able to do their job more effectively and also report reduced stress.

I can offer supervision face to face or online. There are two options 1:1 and group sessions of up to 6 people.

I have led and managed schools in challenging circumstances and have been involved in the design and build of a new SEMH provision from design to implementation.

OFSTED described my previous school as “A haven for its pupils”

I can offer support to senior Teams and Headteachers in school improvement planning and implementation.

Auditing

An audit of current provision can be a very good starting point to think about organisational change and training needs. I can offer audits in the following areas:

Trauma informed and aware practice
Inclusion
SEMH practice
Wider SEND provision
Vulnerable learner provision

I am working with Motional.io to develop whole school auditing tools that can evaluate where you are and plan a course of action for improvement.

Assessment and Advice on SEMH and Challenging Behaviour.

At times, no matter how hard you try, it is difficult to see a complex case objectively and sometimes what you need is another set of eyes and ears.

I work with Motional, an assessment tool which can capture a child or young persons mental and emotional health and develop an action plan based on that assessment.

Some cases are very complex and can involve a number of agencies and professionals who become stuck. Using a range of tools and experience, I can assess and plan a way through those cases to enable you to put in place appropriate provision to meet needs or signpost to those who can.
